BDP Inc. team develops E/I design package for compressor stations

The BDP Inc. team offers traditional system integration services to our clients across the natural gas industry. In addition, select clients choose BDP Inc. to provide E/I design packages for both brownfield retrofits and grassroot construction projects. Recent projects have included E/I design packages for oil field tank battery automation, production stabilizer automation, gathering system compressor station installations, gas treating facility upgrades, and gas processing plant expansions. The BDP Inc. E/I design and system integration services are tailored to compliment our client’s resources on an individual project basis, and may include:

<> Control system selection, design, programming, commissioning, and operator training

<> E/I design package development from site electrification through instrument installations

<> Full-scope E/I equipment installation through commissioning and startup support

Working as part of the owner’s engineering team, BDP Inc. is currently developing E/I design packages for grassroot compressor stations in the Marcellus Shale region. The BDP Inc. team works closely with the client’s project manager, with the mechanical design firm, and with OEM suppliers to coordinate all E/I design tasks for station power, instruments, controls, and electrical systems. The E/I design process includes equipment selection, detailed design, and vendor coordination for the following activities:

<> Control system design and integration with OEM control equipment

<> Instrument Index with field instrument selection and installation details

<> Utility power connections versus onsite power generation, and site electrification

<> Electrical equipment building design and fabrication coordination

<> Electrical one-line and motor control designs

<> Area lighting and utility power distribution

<> Electrical heat-trace design, equipment selection and installation details

<> Conduit and cable schedules, junction box assignments, and field wiring design

In addition to three compressor stations under construction in 2011, the BDP Inc. E/I design package establishes a design basis for our client to build additional compressor stations as production increases in the Marcellus Shale region. The commitment to reusable engineering and vendor/equipment standardization provides consistency across multiple sites supported by the regional operations and maintenance team, while reducing the incremental engineering cost for future compressor stations.
