Pipeline
Pump Stations ready to roll
The BDP Inc. team is
currently providing programming
and commissioning support for a
new liquids pipeline in the
greater Houston area. The
liquids pipeline includes several
pump stations outfitted with PLC
controls and graphic terminals
for local Operator displays,
where these PLC-HMI systems are
being programmed by BDP to meet
client specifications. The
pump stations will be operated
remotely using the client’s
existing SCADA system located at
the liquids storage
facility. The BDP Inc. team
is adding Operator displays and
data tags to the existing SCADA
system to monitor and control
this new liquids pipeline.
Together with the
client’s technical staff,
the BDP Inc. team is testing and
commissioning the PLC-HMI system
at each pump station and enabling
the new SCADA data tags and
displays for remote
operation. These BDP Inc.
programming and commissioning
services provide supplemental
resources to the client’s
technical staff, while delivering
system expertise to implement the
new PLC-HMI equipment and to
expand the existing SCADA system.
Successful
integration of production data
for use by local control systems
and enterprise-wide SCADA systems
requires an understanding of
programming requirements for each
system as well as compatibility
of communication protocols and
